Created
in 1990, the Colleton River Plantation developers are committed
to maintain the area's unspoiled beauty. It is surrounded
by the 1,200-acre South Carolina Nature Preserve that is
never to be developed and serves as a buffer to the outside
world.
Above
all, Colleton River Plantation offers an 18-hole Nicklaus
Signature golf course, an "Augusta National-type"
par 3 golf course, an extensive practice range facility
with target greens, the Stan Smith designed tennis center
and a community dock with access to the Intracoastal Waterway.
The
clubhouse is the social hub of the Plantation and is in
the tradition of classic country clubs with a polished level
of service and personal attendance. The 23,000 square foot
facility was designed by noted Atlanta architects, Nichols
Carter Grant, in a traditional Southern architecture. Features
include a golf shop, spacious men's and women's attended
locker rooms, lounge and mixed grill, library, formal dining
room with seating for approximately 100 and large verandas
overlooking the four finishing holes and sunsets over the
Colleton River. Membership is acquired only with the purchase
of a homesite.
